Sitting and knitting. Helped by my cat.

A day at home today, knitting finger puppets. I knit in the sitting room, so here is the arm of my chair near the end of the day,
You can see some Scrooges in black, Ghosts of Christmas Present in green, and ghosts of Christmas Past in grey with white eyes. Two Jonathan Harkers are perched in the little box of wool.
I was helped today by my cat,
who seemed to think that standing on my shoulders was of use. It was very kind of him!

Hamlet. A Tribute.

Here is Hamlet meeting his father's ghost, in a tribute to the new production at the RSC.

It's a collaged card, with finger puppets.

An economical way to have Hamlet in your home, so much more convenient than great big actors who would no doubt need feeding.

Hamlet and other Shalespearian finger puppet cards can be found on my website, under the For Sale menu.

Flying Dutchman. Lovelorn. Film.

Here is a link to a very short film about the Flying Dutchman, and his search for love.  Made with a fingerpuppet Dutchman, and various artefacts. Musical director is Peter Reynolds, who is actually a rather serious composer!

Alexander and Bucephalus

Here are Alexander and Bucephalus, represented by finger puppets. The horse's brown eye is visible in the photo, but the other is blue. Bucephalus was blind in one eye, which made him a little spooky when approached on his blind side. Alexander understood this of course.

Brunnhilde and the Perfect Pony

Here is Brunnhilde, surrounded by adverts from the Horse and Hound magazine. Everyone looking for a horse has a clear  and possibly unrealistic idea of what they want, but a horse not afraid of fire?

I think the horse threw her off into the flames, and then galloped away to find a more sensible owner.

Sir John Falstaff

I never liked the way Prince Hal treated Falstaff.

Sir John loved him unconditionally, and Hal used him and then rejected him.

Hal is beige, all beige,
Falstaff a tattered rainbow
Washed away with tears.

Parsifal Knitted Fingerpuppet Greetings Card

I liked the idea of a fingerpuppet Parsifal.
It seemed logical to put him
on a greetings card, and
collage the meadow round him.

Originally I had a horse planned as well, but then
discovered that he was on foot!

left handed knitting

I have finally mastered the basic knitting stitches, by putting a page of instructions in front of me, and pretending I was a mirror.

My first piece of knitting is a finger puppet portrait of my horse.
