Prospero and Table Mountain

I walked up  Table Mountain outside Crickhowell, starting on the valley floor, next to the river, and looking up at my destination.
The 'table' makes a wonderful circular viewing platform, with the valleys below and peaks stretching above and away on all sides. In the damp air, the colours were intense and magnified. Breathtaking.
The noise of the wind blotted out all other sounds. Clouds rushed past, ragged hounds in full cry streaming over the ridge. I thought of Prospero saying to Ariel "Thou shalt be free as mountain wind," and thought what a fierce freedom that would be.
How wonderful to see Prospero giving his "this rough magic" speech up here. Breaking his staff and giving up his tiny place in the elemental magical world. I had a tremendous desire to follow the path on the next ridge, and keep walking, into the clouds and away.

Planting poetry. Seed packets of poems!

One of the really enjoyable things about going to book and craft fairs is the chance to show my poetry and present it to the visitors. I've never really liked the idea of putting my poetry in books, where the order of them is fixed, and they are stuck inside covers, so I invented the poetry seed packet.
All the poems are printed on separate sheets. And I have designed and made a seed packet for them to go in!
There are proper instructions on the back, and the number in the edition is written where the price would be on the front of a real seed packet. I like the whole process, from writing the poetry through to making the packets, doing all of it myself.
It's hugely enjoyable displaying these packets, and seeing the reactions to them - AND of course sending them off to new homes!
You can see them in my Etsy shop, if you don't find me at a fair.

Crickhowell Craft Fair. Selling.

Here is the imposing entrance of the Clarence Hall in Crickhowell. At the Craft Fair today I sold lots of poetry, cards and finger puppets to discerning visitors.
My sales were so good I almost bought a piece of cake to celebrate, but as I was also celebrating wearing a new and VERY slimline dress, I decided against it.
       What a great day!

I said good bye to finger puppets and cards, in exchange for money of course.
